Sony is finally revealing the PlayStation 5.The new PS5 is a futuristic white with black finish and blue highlights. lineup of games coming to the next-generation console. The announcement was made during an hour-long digital-only event watched by millions of people globally.
The Japanese tech giant revealed two models of the PlayStation 5: a regular one with a 4K Blu-Ray drive, and a “Digital Edition”. which ditches the familiar disc drive. The PlayStation 5 can be placed vertically or horizontally. The PS5 will come with the next-generation, DualSense controller.
The PlayStation 5’s design looks futuristic, which helps Sony to differentiate its flagship console from Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Series X. PS5 will be having a number of accessories, including a camera, headphones, and remote control. Sony has not yet announced the price or firm release date of the PS5. The pricing of the accessories remains unrevealed at this moment.
The console will arrive in the holiday season and is powered by an eight-core AMD Zen 2 CPU and a custom AMD RDNA 2-based GPU.
Sony is also using a proprietary SSD solution to boost load times for games. The SSD will provide 825GB of storage and 5.5GB/s of performance. the games be installed to the internal SSD to make use of the read speeds.
Sony provided a stunning Unreal 5 tech demonstration running on the PS5, showing off the loading of cinematic 8K assets and dynamic lighting effects.
The PS5 will also support 8K graphics, 4K graphics at a 120Hz refresh rate, and 3D audio.
